What I handle

Georgia documents I can apostille.

An apostille is the certificate another country asks for before it accepts a U.S. document. In Georgia, apostilles are issued by the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA).

Birth certificates
Marriage certificates
Death certificates
Divorce decrees and court records
Diplomas and transcripts from Georgia schools
Powers of attorney and affidavits notarized in Georgia
Business documents filed in Georgia

Documents from another state have to go through that state. Federal documents, like FBI background checks, go through the U.S. Department of State, not Georgia.

Who this is for

People usually reach out when:

You live in Georgia but can't take a weekday off to handle it
You moved away, but your birth certificate, diploma, or court record is from Georgia
You're overseas and your consulate asked for an apostille
You have a visa or consulate deadline and can't afford a rejection
The process

From your hands to overseas-ready.

1

Document review

Before anything is mailed

Submit the order form with a photo of your document. I confirm it's a Georgia document, check it against the state's requirements, and confirm the destination country's path.

2

Notarization, if needed

Powers of attorney, affidavits, copies

Some documents need a Georgia notarization before they can be apostilled. If you're in my service area, we handle that at an appointment.

3

State certification

Submitted to the GSCCCA

You mail me the original. I prepare the request, pay the state fee, and submit it. Countries outside the Hague Convention need a different certification, which I'll quote separately.

4

Tracked return

Back to your door

Your apostilled document is mailed back to you with tracking, ready for international use.

Common rejections

Check this before you order.

Photocopies or laminated documents. Vital records must be certified copies, and laminated ones can't be certified.
Hospital birth certificates. The decorative ones with footprints are keepsakes, not vital records.
Notarized documents with a problem in the notary section, like a missing seal or a notary whose commission wasn't active.
Documents from another state. Georgia can only certify documents from Georgia.
Order form

Order your apostille.

Fill this in and upload a photo of your document. Once I review it, I'll confirm your total and send mailing instructions.

Apostille FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live in Georgia?

No. What matters is where the document came from. A Georgia document has to be certified in Georgia.

Will the other country accept it?

I make sure the Georgia side is done correctly. Whether it meets your destination country's rules is up to them, so confirm with your consulate or the receiving office before you order.

My document needs to be notarized first. Can you do both?

Yes, if you're in my service area. We'll notarize it at an appointment and I'll take it from there.

How long does it take?

It depends on mail and state processing. I'll give you an estimate once I review your document.

Where do I mail my original?

I'll send you the mailing address and an order sheet once your document is reviewed. Always use tracked mail.
